Update 1: U.S. tariffs and new Swiss James Bond watches

Last month, I discussed the U.S. “Reciprocal Trade and Tariffs” initiative in terms of a number of James Bond watch models. Seven days after his initial announcement, President Donald Trump reduced the number [1] for all countries except China “back down to the universal 10% rate …” [2].

This has been characterized as a “90-day pause,” prompted by a large number of requests to (re-)negotiate terms [3], including one on behalf of Switzerland.

Meanwhile, I’ve noted the following movement in online MSRPs over the last thirty days for Swiss watchmakers cited in my aforementioned James Bond Watches Blog Post.

  • The titanium Omega Seamaster featured in No Time to Die (2021) has gone from $10,000 to $10,600 — for a 6.0% increase [4].
  • The stainless steel Omega “James Bond 60th Anniversary” Seamaster has gone from $8,300 to $8,800 — for a 6.0% increase [5].
  • The “Canopus Gold” Omega “James Bond 60th Anniversary” Seamaster has gone from $157,800 to $166,100 — for a 5.3% increase [6].
  • The stainless steel Rolex 36mm Explorer has gone from $7,350 to $7,500 — for a 2.0% increase.
