This week, gold prices topped $4,000 per ounce for the first time in history [1], now at $4,010.53 as of this writing; its spot hit $4,072.00 during the last twenty-four hours [2].
Presently, only one James Bond watch is offered new in this precious metal: The “Canopus Gold” Omega “James Bond 60th Anniversary” Seamaster — with an updated price of $177,700 [3]. That’s up 6.99% from what I noted here on May 2, and a 12.61% boost from my first reporting on the “Reciprocal Trade and Tariffs” initiative announced by U.S. President Donald Trump early the month prior.
Presently into the second month since a rate of 39% was settled upon for Switzerland [4,5], Omega has increased prices for a second time on other James Bond watch models as well.
- The titanium Omega Seamaster featured in No Time to Die (2021) to $11,300 — for a 6.60% increase since May, or a 13.00% bump since April [6].
- The stainless steel Omega “James Bond 60th Anniversary” Seamaster to $9,400 — for a 6.82% increase since May, or a 13.25% bump since April [7].
Referencing the stainless steel 36mm Explorer as my bellwether, however, Rolex has thus far stood pat at the $7,500 price point that I noted on May 2 (a 2.00% increase since April) [8].
On the pre-owned market, Bob’s Watches has five Rolex Explorers for sale today, priced from $7,895 to $8,995 [9]. It also lists two “James Bond 60th Anniversary” watches, both at $7,795 [10] — but appears to have no stock of the No Time to Die diver.
