In many instances, there is more to this scrutiny than Monday-morning-quarterbacking the on-set continuity person [1,2].

1965/ THUNDERBALL
  1. During his dive on the sunken RAF bomber, James Bond was alternatively shown wearing a Rolex reference 6538 Submariner and no wristwatch whatsoever.
  2. When Agent 007 removed a wristwatch from the corpse of Major François Derval, that timekeeper appeared as a gold case and silver dial. James Bond later showed a stainless steel Breitling Navitimer with black dial to Domino, as ostensibly the same piece.
1979/ MOONRAKER
  1. Closeups of the Seiko model Memory-Bank Calendar during the blast chamber escape sequence first showed it attached to the case with three-piece bracelet link into a two-piece endlink on the wrist of James Bond, but a two-piece bracelet link into a three-piece endlink just before use in his hand to detonate explosives [3].
  2. Early in this sequence, this watch indicated a date of December 2, with a “12” for the month and a “2” for the date; later, it showed “02″ for the date.
  3. Throughout, the watch showed Wednesday as the day of the week. December 2, 1979 fell on a Sunday [4].
  4. Three separate views of the Memory-Bank Calendar dial shown over the span of at least eleven seconds all showed the time (stopped) at 10:08:42.
1985/ A VIEW TO A KILL
  1. When Agent 007 searched the body of 003 in Siberia, he was seen to be wearing the Seiko diver’s model that featured as a James Bond watch in various settings later in this movie. However, just after he had boarded the iceberg-boat for departure to Alaska, he was wearing the Seiko Chronograph that served as primary piece in A View to a Kill.
  2. James Bond wore a Seiko two tone dress watch on bracelet with three links across with morning wear at the race track and again, in the same configuration, when he met in the Château de Chantilly office with Max Zorin. But when he intercepted the Rolls Royce by jumping onto that car from horseback, his two-tone watch was fitted with a jubilee bracelet.
1995/ GOLDENEYE

James Bond wore the Omega reference 2541.80 Seamaster throughout his Arkangel Chemical Weapons Facility mission, which was shown during the movie pre-title sequence — and took place nine years prior to main action of the plot. This quartz diver’s watch did not exist at the time of Arkangel [5].
