Following are notes to make it easier for first-time users to get around on this site and better understand its conventions. Repeat visitors may find it useful to check back here every so often as well for updates.

UPDATES

Any content in any place on this site may be changed in any way at any time, without prior notice or highlight of such change or changes.

GENERAL CONVENTIONS
  • Linked content in no way connotes affiliation, credibility, or endorsement of any content contained therein. Due to the nature of the Internet, it may not even be the same content as seen by James Bond Watches administration when linked. Additionally, linked content may appear under or in concert with other material with which James Bond Watches administration actively disagrees, disputes, or finds objectionable. Linked references may or may not be the “best” or “preferred” source of content cited.
  • Links within the main body of any given page (typically, above my signature) will route you to the page to which they point within this site, and without opening a new window.
  • Links under sections identified as “Off-Site References” (typically enumerated, with numbers corresponding to [bracketed numbers] within the main body) will route you to the content to which they point outside of this site and are setup to open said content in a new window on your browser. Caveat emptor.
  • Orange-colored copy, footnotes, and symbols should be given special attention and weight — particularly with regard to the content proximal to them
AUTHORITIES (RATHER THAN “DEFINITIVE LIST” LABELING)
  • Rather than merely claim “Definitive Lists” of James Bond watches under any given category here, the work here is described under appropriate sections as “Verified Lists,” typically coupled with source citations.
  • Each verified entry is substantiated by the best authority upon which identification has been made. This both acknowledges the significant investment that often goes into making such determinations, as well as providing accountability to those who rely upon that work. “First” and “most commonly mentioned” are secondary and tertiary considerations (if at all) here.
PAGE CONVENTIONS
  • Ian Fleming page —
    • All chapter and page references for the fourteen original James Bond book titles correspond to First Edition Library editions (Shelton, Connecticut).
  • Movie page —
    • Known individual watches are listed first, organized by brand, then reference, model, or caliber number (as applicable). Any name or further listing information provided beyond that may or may not be “official” labeling: Follow links to dedicated page provided for each (if available) for complete, formal nomenclature, alternatives, and additional details.
JAMES BOND WATCHES BLOG
  • JamesBondWatchesBlog.com™ is no longer a stand-alone asset. Any URL formerly associated with that site should now point to the Processing page here.
  • So far as I can tell, the Internet Archive (“WayBack Machine”) has done a very good job of having captured the vast majority of James Bond Watches Blog [1] and a respectable amount of my old James Bond watches-related personal blog [2] content.
  • Think of my Process blog here as in-process and raw, unvarnished content. This is particularly true when it comes to more granular details of James Bond watch identifications: The final, overriding authority in any “disconnect” between main site page and blog post will always be the main site page.
  • Names, labels, and such tend to be a less formally constructed on Process pages.
